In 2023, we roared back to the Playa—cameras rolling, hearts wide open—as Burning Man returned in all its dusty, chaotic brilliance. We connected with visionary filmmakers, screened raw cinematic gems under desert skies, and proved once again that storytelling thrives at the edge of civilization.

Now, we level up.

In 2026, the Black Rock City Film Festival returns with double the dimension—on the physical Playa at Camp VideoGasm, and simultaneously in the metaverse at Camp VideoGasm VR. Whether you’re barefoot in Black Rock or wired into your headset from another continent, you’re invited to experience film like never before.

This isn’t just a film festival. It’s celluloid soul-searching at the edge of the void.
Bring your story. Burn it into memory.

• This is a film festival for feature films, shorts, documentaries, animation, student films and music videos, and work submitted must have been produced by the filmmaker submitting the work..
• All shorts must have a running time of less than 5 minutes and be submitted under one of the principals.
• Encourage you to reimagine an existing film as a 5 minute expression of one of the principals.
• Shorts do not need to be filmed on the playa.
• Selected Feature and Documentary submissions will be shown during festival. Please email videogasm@blackrockcityfilmfestival.com.
• Non-English language films To qualify for selection, all non-English language films must have an English-subtitled screening copy available.
• How to send your film Please submit your film via the online submission platforms.
• Notification The Festival will only contact those filmmakers with work selected for screening during the Festival. Unfortunately, the Festival cannot offer feedback regarding films that are not selected for the Festival

• The Black Rock Film Festival is hereby granted the right to use any film or video submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival or for promoting the Festival.
• The individual or corporation submitting hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film or video for screening and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.
• Entry to the Festival implies that the entrant has the right to do so, has pre-cleared all materials that comprise the film, and is an authorized representative of the team that holds the intellectual property in the film.
• The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless ‘The Black Rock Film Festival’ from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
